Corinth
Corinth (Κόρινθος) is a city in southern Greece, and in the past was an ancient Greek polis. The city is the administrative center of Corinth.
Corinth is 78 km away from the capital Athens and is located on the Corinth isthmus between Central Greece and the Peloponnese. To the west and east are the waters of the Gulf of Corinth and the Saronic Gulf, respectively. The modern city of Corinth was rebuilt 3 km northeast of an ancient city destroyed after a major earthquake in 1858. Near ancient Corinth is the entrance from the Gulf of Corinth to the Corinth Canal, which leads to the Saronic Gulf, as well as the local acropolis Acrocorinth.
