Nea Moundania
Nea Moudania is the largest city in Halkidiki. It used to be the second largest in Chalkidiki, but the population has increased and today is 17,032 locals. Nea Moudania is located 60 km south of Thessaloniki. The city is an important financial and commercial center throughout the territory, built after 1922 by Asian refugees in Greece, and took its name from its former city (Moudania in present-day Turkey), to which was added the Greek word "nea" (new), which in Greek it means new.
The inhabitants of Nea Moudania make their living mainly from fishing and agriculture. The city has a large number of visitors and offers a lot for them. Nea Moudania also organizes many cultural and economic events. The only Technical Educational Institute in Halkidiki was opened in the city. The beautiful port serves as a border with the city of Thessaloniki.
