This is the island of Hippocrates - the father of medicine. The island of Kos has a population of over 30,900 inhabitants and an area of ​​290.3 square kilometers and is the third largest island of the Dodecanese after Rhodes and Karpathos and the second largest after Rhodes. The capital of the island is Kos. It is also a port on the island and is 200 nautical miles from the port of Piraeus. The island of Kos has a very rich archaeological heritage and regular tourist interest. The island has been inhabited since prehistoric times - first by the Karites and later by the Dorians. After many years of changes until today, the island of Kos has been owned by various countries, and from March 7, 1948 it was returned to Greece.
