Basilica of Santa Maria Novella in Florence - a Dominican church, begun in 1246 and completed in 1360, with frescoes by Cimabue, Masaccio, Ghirlandaio, etc. The facade of the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, lined with black and white marble, is in the typical Florentine style (architect Alberti, 1456-1470). Masaccio's "Trinity" fresco is among the first Renaissance works where the new concepts of perspective were successfully applied.
