Palermo Cathedral, Italy

Palermo Cathedral intertwines different styles and influences. It was built between 1170 and 1185 on the site of an old church from the 6th century, which was converted into a mosque during Arab rule. In the 7th century it was converted into a church. Palermo Cathedral was altered on the inside but retained its exotic style on the outside. From the outside, the most interesting is the main entrance, dating from the 15th century in the Catalan-Gothic style. In the Cathedral of Palermo are the tombs of Henri IV, Ruggero II and Emperor Frederick II and his wife.
