The Rialto Bridge was the first stone bridge built on the Grand Canal in Venice. The bridge was built in the late 16th century. The best architects of the era, such as Michelangelo, Palladio and Sansovino, took part in its construction. The construction of the Rialto Bridge was entrusted to Antonio de Ponte. A single arcade, over 30 meters long, supports two rows of shops, whose windows overlook the frequent traffic jams from the central passage. The side paths of Rialto Bridge reveal the most captivating view of the city against the backdrop of the Grand Canal, full of gondolas and boats.
