The Basilica di San Lorenzo is the oldest church in Florence. It was built in 393, but later with the help of the Medici it was transformed into its current form, a Renaissance masterpiece designed by Brunelleschi. In the Basilica di San Lorenzo has two bronze bas-reliefs by Donatello. Next to the Gift Barrier "The Barrier of the Sacrament" by Setignano is the tomb of Cosimo Medici, patron saint of the Basilica di San Lorenzo. To the left of the altar are more tombs of members of the Medici family. The Library and the Chapels of the Medici are part of the church complex.
