The Doge's Palace in Genoa is located in Piazza Matteotti. It was built several centuries ago as the residence of the Genoese Doges, and today it hosts exhibitions and is the center of social and cultural life in the city.
The first stage of construction was 1251 - 1275 and the tower was completed in 1539. In 1992, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, the Doge's Palace was renovated.
