The Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna is the largest church in the city. It is named after the patron saint of Bologna. The construction of the Basilica of San Petronio was started in 1390 and was predicted to be twice the size of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. In the following centuries, the money was not enough and remained in this form - the brick facade was left without decoration and marble, except for the main entrance. Inside the Basilica of San Petronio most interesting are the frescoes in the chapel of Bologna by Giovanni da Modena and Jacopo di Paolo. In the Basilica of San Petronio is also the tomb of Napoleon's sister Eliza.
