
Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace), Florence

The Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) in Florence is located on Piazza della Signoria. Until 1540, the council that ruled the city - Signoria - was located here. Today, although there are halls open for visits, the city government is still meeting. The most interesting halls in the Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace) are: the hall of the Five Hundred; The Studiolo of Francesco I; The Apartments of Eleanor of Toledo - the wife of Cosimo I; The Audience Hall; The Cream Hall; The Hall of maps - with a collection of maps from the 16th century.
