Thessaly is one of the 13 regions in Greece, which is a historical and geographical area and includes 4 districts: Larissa (Λάρισα), Trikala (Τρίκαλα), Magnesia (Μαγνησία) and Karditsa (Καρδίτσα). The capital of the district is Larissa. Thessaly is part of Central Greece and borders with Macedonia to the north, with Epirus to the west, with true Central Greece to the south and with the Aegean Sea to the east. In the past, Thessaly was known as Aeolia from Homer's Odyssey.
