Milos is an island in the Cycladic archipelago, which is a favorite place of geologists because of its volcanic origin. Its interesting relief is rich in unusual rock formations, hot springs and fertile valleys. Milos' tourism plays a secondary role in the Greek island's economy, as the main income comes from the mining industry. Nevertheless, Milos is friendly to tourists and for their delight are formed several excellent beaches.
Visitors to Milos must pass through the main port of Adamant, which is a beautiful and lively place. The tour should continue to the capital of the island - Plaka. The town is a tangle of snow-white houses and streets and a Venetian fortress. It is worth to visit the fortress because of the amazing breathtaking view. Art lovers should visit the museum in the capital of Milos, even just to enjoy a copy of the famous statue of Venus Milovska. In a green valley is nestled the picturesque fishing village of Klima, where the houses are on the water and are arranged along the coast of the island.
The south coast of Milos is the place for sunbathing - from inaccessible pristine beaches to modern tourist facilities. Diving enthusiasts should head to the windy north coast of Milos, where there are several small villages and beaches - for example, Polonia, which is a famous place for diving and windsurfing.
Kimolos, like Milos, relies on its mining industry - it is rich in chalk. Only the south coast of Kimolos is hospitable to visitors, as the beautiful beaches are scattered. The ruins of the Venetian village of Paleokastro, perched on top of a cliff, stand out as a landmark of Kimolos.
