Verona Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore, Italy
Verona Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore is the most beautiful Romanesque church in northern Italy. Before the church there was probably a small chapel here. Its name is in honor of St. Zeno - the patron saint of Verona. In its current form it dates from the twelfth century. Interesting to see are the bas-reliefs on the main entrance, which date from the twelfth century and are among the first such works made after antiquity. The masterpiece of the Verona Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore is the main altar by Mantenia.
