Ponte Vecchio Bridge, Florence

There was probably a bridge here since Roman times and it was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt due to floods. The current Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence was built in 1345. Shops began to appear here in the 13th century. Initially, they belonged to fishermen and butchers. In 1593, Grand Duke Ferdinando I placed goldsmiths and jewelers on the Ponte Vecchio.
