
Amelia, Italy

Amelia is a small and picturesque town in the Umbria region of Italy. The town has very well preserved walls, some of which date from the 5th century BC. Amelia also has four preserved gates, including the main Roman gate. In Amelia the most interesting is the Romanesque-style Cathedral, the 12-walled tower from the 11th century, the Roman ponds and the Archaeological Museum, which houses a bronze statue of Germanicus, the father of Caligula.
