The Consular Palace at Gubbio was built between 1332-37 and is the most beautiful Gothic palace in Umbria. It is located in the Piazza Signoria and was the work of the local architect Gatapone, who was also involved in the construction of the Bridge of Towers in Spoleto.

Now the Consular Palace houses the City Art Museum and the Archaeological Museum. There are exhibited the so-called Iguvine tablets, unique bronze tablets seven in number from the 1st - 3rd centuries BC with Latin and Umbrian inscriptions.
