Kaziranga National Park is located in the most northeastern part of India, on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. It is a combination of forests, swamps and thickets of tall elephant grass, which are an ideal environment for the Indian rhinoceros. There are many more wild animals in Kaziranga National Park. Their observation early in the morning is most appropriate. Then the elephants go out to graze, and the grasses are a favorite place for circling birds of prey, such as the kestrel, searching for prey among the storks, herons, pelicans and barnacles. The sunrises here are beautiful. The best time to visit is from November to April and the nearest city is Jorhat, 95 km away.
