Acadia National Park, USA
Acadia National Park is located on Maine's Atlantic coast. It encompasses Mount Desert Island, portions of three adjacent small islands, and the Skudik Peninsula. Mount Cadillac is located on Mount Desert Island. It is made of pink granite and is covered with forests of pine and spruce. The sunrise seen from the top of the mountain is something majestic. The park is home to a variety of wildlife - 40 species of mammals, seals and orcas, and more than 300 species of birds.
President Woodrow Wilson declared the park a national monument in 1916. A D. Rockefeller Jr. was fascinated by the beauty here and donated 1/3 of the land and also built over 80 miles of dirt roads in the park, as well as 17 granite bridges and two shelters at its entrances.
