Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska (USA)

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is located along the Gulf of Alaska in the southeastern parts of the state. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1794, Captain George Vancouver discovered the icy tale of Ice Strait. In 1879, explorer John Mooker discovered that the glacier had retreated approximately 80 km and left Glacier Bay behind.
There are now 16 huge glaciers here, and each year they retreat by 460 m, with icebergs breaking off from them and being swept along the ocean waves.
