Peiting is situated between the Leh and Ammer rivers and has been mentioned since the 11th century as Peiting Castle. The remarkable church of "St. Michael" in the town is from this period. The town's beautiful countryside is suitable for family holidays. On one of the many farms near the town you can learn about sheep, cows, vineyards, fruit and vegetables and eat fresh produce. Peiting 's attractions include the Ski Museum, the Mines Museum and the Hunting and Fishing Museum. Close to the town are the ruins of the Roman manor of Rustica, supposedly the junction of the ancient Via Claudia Augusta, one of the most important routes linking southern Germany with northern Italy via the Alps.
