Nymphenburg Palace is an architectural building with an interesting cube shape, the foundations of which were laid in 1664. The reason for the construction of Nymphenburg Palace was the birth of the heir of Ferdinand and his wife Maria Henriette Adelaide of Savoy. They chose as architect Agostino Barelli, who undertook the construction of the summer residence of the dignitaries in Munich.
The Nymphenburg Palace was once a summer residence located on the outskirts of the city. Nymphenburg Palace's first building was the central pavilion, erected in 1675. King Ludwig II was born here in 1845. The idea of canals in front of the Nymphenburg Palace was born out of the desire to make Nymphenburg a kind of second Venice. To make everything as close to the original as possible, several gondoliers were called from Italy.
One of the most interesting halls of the Nymphenburg Palace is the Great Hall. Its ceiling is decorated with frescoes by Johann Zimmermann and decorated by François de Couvillier. On the walls of the former small dining room in the south pavilion are numerous paintings of the most beautiful Bavarian women of the time, and there are also several of commoner maidens, all painted by order of King Ludwig I, who had a weakness for beautiful women.
Several museums can be visited in Nymphenburg Palace - "Porcelain Museum", "Man and Nature" and "Palace Stables Museum". The coach museum is located in one of the outhouses. Among the main attractions of the museum are the magnificent carriages of King Ludwig II.
