Creglingen is well worth a visit to see the world-famous altar of Mary in the medieval Herrgottskirche (Church of Our Lord) from 1384. The giant altar, 9.2 m high, 3.7 m wide and 0.5 m thick, was made by the master carver Tillmann Riemenschneider between 1505 and 1510.

An interesting attraction of the town is the Thimble Museum, where 3 thousand exhibits can be seen. In addition, the Creglingen area includes large stretches of woodland with great hiking and cycling trails linked by landmarks such as chapels, ancient Celtic walls and castle ruins. The surrounding villages are small and picturesque, as if out of an artist's painting, and the low prices in the small restaurants and farm hotels give the feeling that time has stood still.
