Heligoland Island, Germany

Heligoland Island, Germany is a 70-kilometer block of red sandstone jutting out into the North Sea. The island has a triangular shape and seems to rise from the sea. The 50-meter vertical pink rocks contrast with the lead blue water of the sea and continue for another 56 meters to the bottom. Part of this beautiful area belongs to the Lumenfelsen Reserve, where there are many capris, great gophers, northern fish eaters and various species of seagulls. On the island of Heligoland there is a lonely rock with a lighthouse, and seals sometimes lie around it. Heligoland's climate is reminiscent of the Caribbean. There are palm trees and figs. The nearest town is Cuxhaven.
