Tauberbischofsheim, Germany

Tauberbischofsheim is an interesting town with many historic buildings and medieval fortifications that make it part of Germany's famous Romantic Road. The most attractive part of the Old Town is the square, surrounded by half-timbered houses with their extraordinary wooden frames giving a fairytale feel to the surroundings. If you are there in May during the Italian Night Festival or in July when the Old Town Festival is on, the experience would be wonderful.
This little town, named after the Tauber river that runs through it, has a wonderful copy of the altarpiece of Tauberbischowseheim by Matthias Grunewald in the parish church of St Martin. And if you decide to stay overnight in the town's historic hotel from 1733, the nostalgic lounge will take you back to the romantic time of chivalry.
