Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is part of the architectural ensemble of the Square of Wonders. It was begun in 1173 as the bell tower of the Cathedral, but because of the soft sandy soil and shallow foundations, it was almost immediately tilted to the north.
Construction on the tower of Pisa was halted for about 90 years. When construction continued the tower began to change direction of inclination from north to south. The shape of the tower of Pisa is banana-shaped and the deviation from the base is 5.6 m. In theory, by all the laws of physics, it should have fallen long ago. With every attempt to reduce the lean and strengthen the Leaning Tower of Pisa, more and more damage is done.
