Devil's Tower, Wyoming (USA)

Devil's Tower is a monolithic stone formation rising above a wooded area near the Belle Fourche River in the wilds of northeastern Wyoming. The hill on which the tower rises is 182 m high and the formation itself is 263 m high. The "tower" is a fluted volcanic rock with a flat top.
Devil's Tower is a sacred site for several Native American tribes, including the Lakota Sioux. Each year in June, visitors are asked not to climb the rock to allow the Indians to perform their rituals.
Steven Spielberg also filmed Close Encounters of the Third Kind here in 1978.
