
Piazza Venezia, Rome

Piazza Venezia is considered to be the geographical heart of Rome. Here stands a huge marble monument (1911) in honor of the first king of united Italy Vittorio Emanuele II (1820-1878). Mussolini's most famous speeches were addressed from his balcony to the roaring crowds below.
