Trani, Italy
Trani is a town in Italy, not far from Bari. It is a bustling port with whitewashed houses and a lovely Romagna-style cathedral. The cathedral was built in 1150-1250 and sits just above the sea. The cathedral in Trani has exceptional bronze doors from 1180 by Barisano da Trani. The doors are divided into 32 sectors and depict scenes from the lives of Christ, the Virgin Mary, the Apostles and the Saints. The Cathedral of Trani bears the name of St. Nicholas, who legend has it came on the back of a dolphin.
