St Mark's Clocktower, Venice

The Clock Tower in Venice is located next to the Basilica of San Marco and was built in 1499. On the dome there are two bronze figures known as the Moors. The clock shows the time of day, the sign of the zodiac and the phase of the moon. The decision to build the clock was made by Doge Agostino Barbarigo in 1493. The clock was created by Gianpaolo and Giancarlo Rainieri - father and son of Reggio Emilia.
