Olympic National Park is located on the Olympic Peninsula in the Pacific Ocean in Washington State, south of Vancouver Island. In 1981, it was inscribed by UNESCO on the World Heritage List. Olympic Park is an isolated area, and so it is home to extraordinary vegetation and some endangered animals such as the spotted sandpiper and long-billed curlew. The coastline is wild and beautiful, with sandy beaches where shipwrecks are often found. There are small coves between large rocks. Several small Indian communities still live in this wonderful and wild land.
