Duke Caddesi is a street in Istanbul, named after the legendary Count Dracula. According to legend, he was a duke of Transylvania and Wallachia, who as a child was sent to the Ottoman sultan as a ransom. Although he was eventually released, he grew up with contempt for the Turks. He expelled the Turks from Wallachia. He was killed near Bucharest in 1476, and his head was sent to Constantinople, where Mehmed II exposed it beaten on count. Some say the street is the place where is his grave.
