Antalya is among the cities of Pamphylia, which were conquered by Alexander the Great without much fighting. Today it is a fast-growing city from which can be made excursions to the main archeological sites of the area: Perge, Aspednos, Side and Termesos.

In Antalya it is interesting to see the Old Port full of yachts, fishing vessels and ships for excursions of tourists. Several of the cobbled streets of the old town lead to the old stone Clock Tower. Behind it is Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque, which dates from the late sixteenth century and is one of the best preserved Ottoman mosques in the area.

Costumes and remains from the Classical and Roman eras can be seen in the Museum of Antalya. The remains of a prehistoric man, the ethnographic sections and the fabulous gallery of outdoor sculptors should not be missed.
