Egypt is a country that holds much to its history. And the history, in its turn, has something to show to the world. Ancient rituals, pharaonic eras, art of mummification. Guided by the idea to preserve for generations and show to the world was erected another museum in Luxor. The Mummification Museum enlightens everyone in all the details of this mysterious practice in ancient Egypt.
Only one mummy is on display in this small museum - that of Masaharti, who was a high priest of Amon-Ra of the 21st dynasty. She was chosen perhaps because of her extremely good condition, as she even has a beard and hair. The museum's collection includes mummified animals, but in general the Mummification Museum focuses on the tools and materials used to process the skull and carcass, even the vessels in which the four removed organs were placed. Another hall is dedicated to the substances with which the body prepared for mummification is treated.
In general, the Mummification Museum does not boast a very rich collection and its visit would not take much time, but it is quite a valuable experience and an unforgettable memory of what it offers as exhibits.
