The Alexander Pushkin House Museum was the palace of Prince Wolkonsky in the 18th century. The beloved Russian poet met his death here. He died on January 27, 1837, defending his wife's honor. Pushkin's contribution to Russian literature can be compared to that of Shakespeare to English and Goethe to German. His most famous work is Eugene Onegin - a story of unrequited love, resembling the life of the poet. The funeral ceremony for the poet took place in the Stable Church, which is very close.
