Costa Smeralda is a world-famous resort on the island of Sardinia, Italy. It was started by Aga Khan, who built a luxury resort, Porto Cervo, in the 19th century. After that, more such luxury resorts appeared and so the area of Costa Smeralda became one of the most famous resorts in Europe. The most famous resorts in the Costa Smeralda are Porto Rotondo, Portixo, Bahia Sardegna and Porto Cervo. Not far from Costa Smeralda is the most famous religious building in Sardinia, the Holy Trinity with the Cow, as well as the mysterious Nuraghi (prehistoric dwellings) in the Valle dei Nuraghi.
