Lake Trasimeno is the fourth largest lake in Italy and is located west of Perugia. Lake Trasimeno was the site of a significant battle in 217 BC between Carthaginian troops led by Hannibal and Roman legions, when the Roman army was almost completely destroyed.

You can visit the site of the battlefield near the town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno. Other towns on the shores of Lake Trasimeno are also interesting to visit: Castiglione del Lago; Passiano sul Trasimeno, etc.
