The Rembrandt House Museum, located in the Dutch capital Amsterdam, is where the artist lived and worked from 1639 to 1656. The Rembrandt House Museum was built way back in 1606. In the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam, the rooms in which he lived, as well as the workshop in which he worked, as well as his wonderful collection shine with his unique engravings and etchings, can be viewed in detail. The owners of this Rembrandt museum have tried to preserve the authentic atmosphere in which Rembrandt lived in this house. Some of the furniture and objects are preserved and displayed together with sculptures and paintings by other artists of the same era, which complete the overall picture of the life and work of the famous artist. The interior of the Rembrandt House Museum has been recreated for the era in which Rembrandt sold the house – all recreated in the style current for the year in question, 1656.

The great artist settled in the premises of the basement of today's house-museum together with his family – his son Titus and his wife Saskia van Oylenburgh, who happens to be his cousin. Rembrandt's marriage to Saskia raised his status in society as well as improved his material situation. Thus he managed to buy many valuable objects of art and rare valuables with which to decorate their home. Unfortunately, she left her two beloved men in 1642 – death took her from this world. Rembrandt's paintings of his wife on her deathbed are among his most emotional works. This representative house at the time cost Rembrandt 13,000 guilders, which he paid with a mortgage loan. This became the cause of his further financial difficulties.

Some of Rembrandt's most famous paintings are said to have been painted in the studio on the first floor. The wonderful collection of Rembrandt paintings is interspersed with self-portraits of the artist, revealing various of his moods and images. The Rembrandt House Museum is located in the Jewish Quarter in Amsterdam, on Jodenbrestat Street. Today, it hosts various temporary exhibitions, and separate demonstrations of printing and painting are also held.
