Warwick Castle is a former medieval motte-and-bailey castle owned by four nobble families over the time – Beauchamp, Neville, Dudley and Greville and all of them held the title Earl of Warwick. Due to their efforts throughout the years, Warwick Castle is still one of the most remarkable aristocratic strongholds. The exceptional gardens of the castle were designed by the famous English landscape architect Lancelot Brown known as Capability Brown.

The history of the castle began in 914 when Æthelred, the daughter of Alfred the Great, ordered the construction of a fortress which was used to control River Avon. The present day architecture of the castle dates since Henry de Beaumont, 1st Earl of Warwick.

James VI and I granted the Warwick Castle to Sir Fulke Greville in 1604. The new owner spent a fortune on improvements, however he was murdered by one of his servants and it believed that his ghost still haunts the castle. The elegant design of the rooms created by Sir Fulke Greville and his descendants is preserved to this day.

Warwick Castle was sold to the Tussauds Group in 1998. They have arranged displays of wax figures, medieval instruments of torture and various paintings for the visitors.
