Bangor is a city in North Wales and belongs to Gwynedd County. The city is located on the south coast of Menai Strait at the Irish Sea. It is among the small cities of Wales. The city has a train station and a port. The landscape of the city is specific as it is mostly surrounded by the Bangor Mountain. Two rivers run through the city – River Adda and River Cegin. Across Bangor, on the north coast of Menai Strait is located the town of Menai Bridge.

The first historical data about Bangor is traced back to 6th century AD. It is when the Bangor Cathedral Saint Deiniol has been built. The origin of the city’s name derives from the old Welsh word meaning a place surrounded by a fence. In fact this describes the Cathedral itself as it was indeed protected by a fence back in the days. The current architecture of the Saint Deiniol Cathedral is rather modern as it was renovated several times over the centuries. The Diocese of Bangor is one of the oldest in Great Britain.

Among the other landmarks of Bangor is the main street of the city. It is attracting many visitors because it is the longest main street on the entire territory of Wales and this makes it particularly interesting.

Bangor is also popular for its University founded in 1884 as well as with its football team - Bangor City F.C. The club was founded in 1876 and it is a long-lasting member of the League of Wales.
