The Jurassic Coast has been designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is 1,521 km long and 185 million years old. The Jurassic Coast holds traces of three geological ages - Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. The important fossils and coastal geomorphology found in the area have helped scientists studying the Earth's history for 300 years.

The Jurassic Coast with its exposed cliffs and the sea with its clay bottom have been an excellent place for the preservation of shells, bones and even animals. Green ammonites, 197-million-year-old belemnite marls and even fossil footprints of invertebrate marine and terrestrial animals have been found here. Interesting here is the small church "St. Catherine", where unmarried women come to pray for help in finding a husband.
