Titlis, Switzerland

The canton of Unterwalden is located in the very centre of Switzerland and is known as the founding canton of today's Switzerland after its accession to Uri and Schwyz in the union of 1291. The canton encompasses the Pilatus and Titlis mountains and is rich in natural attractions, spectacular views and unforgettable memories.
One of these natural attractions is Titlis, the highest mountain in this region. Undoubtedly the most popular destination in the area is the Titlis Glacier Park, which is situated on the higher slopes of the Titlis Mountains.
The highlight and jewel in the crown of the Titlis attraction is the last cabin to the top, which rotates providing passengers with a panoramic view of the icy landscape below. For those who like a high adrenaline rush, a rope descent into a deep crevasse in the glacier is available. However, the winter challenges of Titlis Glacier Park don't end there - the euphoria knows no bounds. The park has a specially prepared course for tire sliding, chair sliding on a ski, snow scooter riding, snowboard jumping and landing on a hovercraft, as well as sledding with sleds attached to each other.
Titlis is welcoming to more than just snow lovers. The summer adventure focuses on so-called iron trails. They vary in difficulty and are an equally mouth-watering challenge for inexperienced and hardened climbers alike. Mountain biking enthusiasts have also been thought of - they will find many challenging routes for their passion. Bike hire is available for the descent from Jochpas to Trübsee or from Gersnhnialp to Engelberg.
Visitors who decide to descend on foot will enjoy a pleasant and memorable walk along the Mountain Flower Trails in Gersnhniealp and Trübsee, which have signs with detailed information in English revealing what the flowers are and what their purpose is. At the foot of the Titlis Mountains, on the other hand, is a magical place in nearby Gersnhnialp where one can take a whey bath - a unique and unbeatable combination of cheese dairy and beauty spa.
In addition to being the name of a mountain and a unique attraction, Titlis is also the name of a remarkable destination that is one of a kind in Europe - the 100-metre Titlis Cliff Walk Bridge, which was built in the Titlis Mountains to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the gondola lift going into operation in January 1913. It was the first cable car in the world. The Titlis Bridge hangs at about 3,000 meters above sea level and was built at a popular skiing destination, on the border between Obwalden and Bern. It took 4 months and 1.6, million dollars to build.
