Cannes is a city in southern France. This very famous and well known is beautifully situated on the French Riviera. What this city is most famous for is the Film Festival that is held in the city every year.
Cannes even has a Walk of Fame in front of the Festival Palais, where many people associated with cinema have left their marks and handprints. A film prize known as the Palme d'Or is awarded at Cannes. Cannes also hosts other festivals - in January it is the Festival of Music Releases and in February it is the Mimosa Festival.
In Cannes, besides festivals, there are other places and sights that attract so many tourists every year. For example, these are the museums. Among them, the Museum of History and Art stands out very well, which houses a collection of exhibits from prehistoric times to the present day. The castle museum, which has objects from the Pacific coral islands, Peruvian relics and Mayan pottery, is also a curiosity. The Maritime Museum, the Museum of Photography and the Perfumery Museum are on the ladder of fame. In Cannes, everything is up to par and nothing is lacking. The city is an extremely luxurious place where everything is classy - shops, hotels and restaurants. This is a consequence of the fact that the Cannes Film Festival is held there.
Among the historical and architectural monuments that are worth visiting in Cannes stand out the Simtiere du Grand Jas - a cemetery with several magnificent statues and tombstones, as well as religious temples - the churches of Notre Dame de Beaune Voyage and the Russian Church of Alexander II.
Le Suquet is what comes closest to the concept of an old town. This part overhangs picturesquely the western end of the harbor. The landscape of this part of Caen is dotted with narrow streets and a medieval atmosphere.
