In Aven Armand Cave in France is the largest stalagmite in the world. It is named after its discoverer, blacksmith Louis Armand in 1897. At least 400 of the stalagmites are over 1m high, many reach 20m, and the tallest is 30m.

The nearest town to the cave of Aven Armand is Meirøy. A small railway has now been built which makes it easier to reach the cave.
