Nin, Croatia
A small town near Zadar. In the heart of the historic center of Nin is an island with a diameter of 500 m. Nin is located in a lagoon in the eastern Adriatic Sea.
The Croatian colonization of Nin began after the 7th century. Since the 9th century, the city has been the center of the first Croatian metropolitanate. It plays an important role in the religious, cultural and political life of the country.
In 1409 the city was sold to Venice. Later it was destroyed twice - in 1571 and 1646. After the Second World War the city developed as a tourist center.
