The interior of the island of Fuerteventura is dry and, apart from lichens, there is no other vegetation. The island has a volcanic origin. Its landscape is a mixture of rocky terrain with eroded pumice and cooled lava flows. In summer, the rocks become more reddish-brown. The highest point on the island is Mount Sarsa (807 m). It offers wonderful views of the beautiful places in this part of Fuerteventura.
