The island of Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands archipelago and also the most populated island in Spain, with an area of ​​2,034 square kilometers. The highest peak in Spain is located on the territory of this island - Mount Teide (3,718 m.).
On a clear day, all the islands of the group can be seen from the top of the Teide crater. Las Cañadas National Park is located around the volcano - a rare park in its beauty, where the mountain landscapes changing towards the foot of the volcano are presented in all their inimitable magnificence. At the very foot of Teide, beautiful lagoons are revealed, which were formed by the solidifying lava.
The mild maritime climate that the island of Tenerife has gives it the name "island of eternal spring". Tenerife has a diverse flora and fauna, pristine subtropical forests reminiscent of the vegetation that covered the shores of the Mediterranean Sea millions of years ago. The nature of the island is so diverse that Tenerife can be compared to a miniature continent.
Huge mountain ranges, dense tropical and subtropical forests, volcanic semi-desert and sand dunes. The coastline is characterized by the alternation of extensive beaches of golden or black sand and rocky areas with characteristic landforms. Tourist routes pass both along the coast and in the interior of Tenerife, allowing tourists to enjoy beautiful views, unique parks, and also explore picturesque villages and modern tourist centers.
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of the island. It is a pleasant and lively modern city that is situated on a gentle slope overlooking the wide plains to the south. Santa Cruz is also known as a welcoming city. Beautiful gardens, especially in García Sanabria - the municipal park, noisy streets make tourists feel at home.
The second largest city on the island, after the capital, is the city of La Laguna. The sights worth seeing in this city are the University City, the Church of La Concepción - recognized as a site of national importance, the local university library, the Episcopal Palace and the Nava Palace, where El Santísimo Cristo de la Laguna is enshrined, and the ancient Draconovo tree in El Seminario garden.
Another city that should not be missed when visiting the island is the city of La Orotava, located in the center of the beautiful Orotava Valley. Here there are gardens and balconies formed by the relief structure. Characteristic of the city are the old houses. Highlights include La Concepción with its baroque facade, San Juan and the El Calvario Museum.
For those wishing to see the famous man-made lakes of Logo Martianes, a visit to Puerto de la Cruz, a modern resort and beautiful old town in the north of Tenerife, is a must. Here you can explore a botanical garden and the Loro Park Parrot Park - one of the world's largest parrot parks. Many other exotic birds can be seen in it, as well as some interesting specimens of marine fauna.
Towns in the north of Tenerife - Icod de los Vinos and Garachino, have managed to completely preserve their originality. Along the narrow streets of these towns, many remarkable buildings can be seen, in the appearance of which characteristic details of the Canarian architectural style are woven. 
On the west coast of Tenerife is the picturesque resort town of Los Gigantes. The city is located among the famous Los Gigantes coastal cliffs, impressive with their gigantic dimensions. Unlike other resort centers, there are relatively few hotels here. The town is mainly built up with beautiful snow-white villas surrounded by blooming greenery, contrasting with the small beach of black volcanic sand.
