Mozart's Birthplace, Austria

The house in which Mozart was born was owned by Mozart's friend and landlord, Johann Hagenauer. The artist's family occupied the third floor from 1747 to 1773, and the house today bears a plaque stating that Salzburg's most famous son lived here.
Converted into a museum today, Mozart's house now houses his violin, his piano, family portraits and letters. In fact, Mozart's house was turned into a museum in 1880 by the International Mozart Foundation, and in the late 20th century was extensively reconstructed and became an important attraction for Salzburg. And, confirming the claim that the city benefited from Mozart's name and fame, is the Getreide. It became one of the most popular shopping streets, where one can find all sorts of Mozart-related items.
