Amazonia is the largest tropical wet forest in the world, stretching across several countries. A large part (about 20 thousand square kilometers) of these forests are located on Brazilian land and are included in the João Park.

Central Amazonia can be reached by boat on the Rio Negru, which is the second largest river in South America after the Amazon. The black color of the Rio Negru's waters is due to decomposed biomass and iron-rich sediments. Moving along the river, one can see igapos - dark mysterious forests up to 12 m underwater, where strange climbing plants crawl on the trees.

There are also versea - a floating mosaic of plants. In the waters swim myriad electric fish, the endangered sea cow and river dolphins. Travelling through the Amazon jungle is an exhilarating experience.
