The Sugarloaf Mountain is the emblem of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This unusually green monolithic hill rises steeply to a height of 396 m. Its name comes from its shape, resembling traditional pieces of refined sugar. The hill can be climbed by a 1400 m long cable car. The trip is an exceptional experience because of the spectacular panoramic views of the city, the mountains and the Atlantic coast. For mountain climbing enthusiasts, there is a marked route to the top. It is nice to go to Rio de Janeiro during the Carnival, which takes place mid-February.
