Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, Brazil
Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park covers 655 sq. km of Cerrado, a vast area of tropical savannah in central Brazil. The park has been declared a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Here nature is characterized by its beauty according to the season. The winter prairie, yellowish in colour, is covered with lush greenery under the influence of the summer rains. The high 1200 elevation fields are cut by deep rocky canyons where some of the oldest rock specimens on the planet can be seen.
Cerrado is a savanna with one of the greatest diversity of tropical plants and animals in the world. Some of these are found nowhere else on Earth. The Pretu River flows through the park, forming several beautiful waterfalls. The reserve is one of the ten most visited natural parks in Brazil.
